NEWS!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and on the advice of health professionals and government officials, events in our area have been cancelled or postponed. As our member businesses reopen as they are allowed, we appreciate your patience. Thanks for doing this ... and we hope to see you soon!

FOR OUR MEMBERS:

The Ontario government has given the green light for short term rentals including lodges, cabins, cottages, homes, condominiums and B&B's to resume operations in Ontario. Peterborough Public Health (PPH) has extensive information for accommodation providers offering short term rentals. Here is a link to some of that information.

BUSINESSES GIVE BACK

Being community-minded comes naturally to Leslie Clarkson of Scotsman Point Resort in Buckhorn. And when the COVID-19 pandemic continued, she wanted to show appreciation for the front-line workers.

She organized a contest to award some time at the resort to a deserving front-line worker. Other local businesses – Buckhorn Foodland, Pizza Alloro and the Canoe & Paddle in Lakefield – stepped up to give prizes as well.

The response to the contest was overwhelming, and a committee of judges decided to award three prizes instead.

Kristy Asling (above left) works in the COVID-19 Unit at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. A single mother of three young children, Kristy has worked since the beginning of the pandemic and made a tough decision to stay away from her children to help keep them safe. Kristy is also a volunteer firefighter in Trent Lakes. She won a full week stay at Scotsman Point Resort this summer, a $75 gift card from Foodland, a Pizza Alloro pizza dinner and four dinners from the Canoe & Paddle.

Peterborough Paramedic Melissa Packman (above middle) and PSW Thomas Flynn (above right) were also awarded for their efforts during the pandemic. Each will receive a 3-night mid-week stay at the resort and dinner from the Canoe & Paddle.
